This was one I was satisfied with making last month... our wireless access point started getting flaky and dropping out regularly, and with two people that work from home here that was getting tedious. Upon investigation it was far too hot to touch, and if it was turned off and let cool down it operated fine... for a while, until it got hot again.

I had a silent-running Noctua fan from an old server laying around and figured I'd chuck something together to make a little cooling stand for it and see if it made any difference. The design:



Underside - the fan goes in the square recess and screws into heatset inserts which are installed from above:



Printed and under the AP:



Works a treat - the fan is inaudible and now the unit is cool to the touch at any point in the day. Printed in blue sparkle ABS. Draws air in at the bottom and pushes it out against the underside of the AP.

Need a round over die set for the bead roller so I can make some rear wheel tubs. Should be an interesting experiment to see if they hold up or break on the first use.

What filament did you use?

PLA will hold for a few bends easily.

Just add like 8 or 10 outer perimeters.

You just need to print in the orientation that will give you maximum shear strength at the bending face.

They are solid prints with alternating directions of travel each layer.
Im expecting I’ll get sufficient mileage out of them without too much drama
