No emails from subscribed threads
Hi Admins,
I haven't been able to receive emails from subscribed threads (has never worked for me). Am i able to get some assistance with this?
Regards,
Lever.

Bump
BTW - I do receive emails notifying me of private messages, or a particular thread i've subscribed/replied to, just not the subscribed forums.

Like any member who pays nothing and you are basically getting what you pay for.
How do you know that PMs are being sent to you?
Our MetalWork Forums Admin team is voluntary and deals primarily with problems critical to the operations of the forum. There are lots of problems you are unaware of.
Better to have a Forum to participate in, due to their voluntary work, than have no Forums at all.
Our computer guru already has a full time job and Forums demands upon his time are many. As usual he is swamped.
Be Patient.
Thank you for posting in the correct venue.

I know because I've actually received the email alerts like "New Private Message at Metal Work Forums.." & "Reply to thread ...".
I'm sure the problem is still related to my email address though. When i signed up i used a gmail address with a '+' sign in it - which is valid for gmail but some systems don't like it. I later changed that and removed the plus sign but it's probably still linked to my account in the database somewhere.
Thanks for the reply,
Hope you have a good day.

*Bump*
Still no emails - I tested with a new account and a different email address. No joy.

FYI - Apparently subscribing to Forums has been disabled to cut down on email traffic.
Subscribing to individual threads however works fine.
I just looked at my original post and should have called it 'no emails from subscribed forums" (rather than threads, my bad).
So for anyone wondering what is going wrong, you'll now know why it doesn't work.

Strangely the thread title is perfect for my current problem.
Since 25/6/22 I haven't been receiving any notifications. Not likes etc or pms or thread replys.

Using new posts has just about the same result if not totally the same as subscribing to threads.

Hi Guys,
I'm in a similar position ! I've not had any notifications since the 01/07/22.
Its a bit of a redundant feature anyway, and it costs resources to send them ! I suspect that most don't save them anyway.Best Regards:
Baron J.

While I can get by without the rest not having PM notification can be painful, certainly would be for anyone pming me when I wasn't expecting it . It's also one of the easier ways to save PMs given the some what limited size of the inbox here.

Below following is general information for everyone not to any particular person(s).
Rather than subscribe to the forum, subscribe to thread(s) you are interested in. Pretty sure I disabled most of the subscribe to threads due to the massive amount of emails going out each day upwards of 100,000 to 250,000 per month a few years ago.
Woodwork forums was upwards of 1.2 million per month 10 or so years ago. Was making the forum run slow and costing a fortune per month in over-run costs for email server. If only 50 members subscriber to 10 forums and each of those has 10 posts per day that would be 5,000 emails to send plus all the ones for PM's, birthday greetings, calendar reminders, registrations, contact us, etc, etc. that would be somewhere around another 500+ so 5,500 conservatively per day and an average of 165,000 per month.
Hope this gives you some idea of what we are up against. If you're getting emails about subscribed threads/posts then you're probably getting all the forum has to offer.
If PM's are not being received I have no idea what's going on. There is no reason other than at users end that they shouldn't get delivered as from what I can see they are being sent.
I have subscribed to a couple of higher post threads not to follow the topics, but to see if the notifications are being sent and I have been getting them.
If you subscribe try asking for daily updates rather than instant.
Worst comes to worst try using Activity Stream or new posts. Bear in mind that a post you make won't trigger notification as they are not new to you as you posted them
Hope this is at least of some little help with this problem.
Cheers - Neil
