Cheers. I've been thinking I need to up my indicator game - just received a new mag base and arm (on a Saturday via Aus Post, not sure how that works...) which has the single knob to lock everything up, which should be faster to set up than the cheap-arsed arm I've been using. Also got a digital indicator - will be interested to see if that is as meaningful as seeing a pointer move.

I went through my 5x D1-4 chucks many years ago in detail, machining the tapers and the flats to make them tight on the spindle and repeatable. Don't care for the specs that are supposed to be, as everyone gets something different from China, though my spindle was spot on.
I'm super careful on the cleanliness of them every time I mount one.
Saying that I made one back plated 3 jaw chuck a tap true, not set true with screws as Bison etc.
I machined the back plate slightly undersized so it could be adjusted to perfectly for that size with the tap of a dead blow hammer, then do up the cap screws.Using Tapatalk
