Hi there just take it easy its a bit like facing off except you are creating a curved surface. Try smal radius till you get the hang of it.

Turning the knurled nuts you need to write your self a simple order of operations for the project.

1 Chuck the bar needed
2 Turn major od
3 Centre drill
4 Drill for 3/8 tapping drill
5 KNURL...

buy metric 4mm 5mm 6mm 8mm 10mm and imperial 3/16 1/4 5/16 3/8 that should cover most small jobs i buy individual as the need arrises

I bought a plug in 1hp motor from HARE & FORBES bolts straight on no problem.around $265

I fitted a 1 horse motor to my C class tonight also have noted it is a metric lathe also just need a couple more change gears to slow the feed.I found Mick Moyes very helpfull they sold me a 72/18...

Hi i also have sieg x2 mill which i have fitted a jcar geared 12v motor to drive the longitudial table it seems to work ok powered by a model train controller $40 motor and a bit time:o

im still working as a fitter and have fond memories of these lathe also
