Similar to what you have in the first photo, a spring loaded lock pin may be suitable, you can lock it open too.
Weld the bung onto the outside RHS and drill some holes for the pin, you can find...

I can't imagine the quality is fantastic, and iirc the company behind this group of sellers is pretty rubbish in terms of support, but there are Chinese knockoffs of the Kurt vices even cheaper than...
