Coolant system
I was thinking of adding a coolant system to my 260, I don't want to spend too much cash and was wondering what guys have done to their 260's regarding pumps etc.
My 260 is on a factory cabinet so it already has a nice sized drain hole.

If you dont want to go to the expense of a manufactured Pump/storage system, you could just use a Pond/Water feature pump, make sure it will have enough head, for the Tank/Sump a suitable sized plastic container or similar, minimum of at least 15 litres, enough hose to be able to go from the pump to your mounting point on the Lathe carriage,a Small Ball valve or Tap to regulate the Coolant flow and either a suitable size Tube on your delivery side of your tap or one of the proper coolant hoses (The flexible type you can twist and place in different positions),if you make your own delivery hose you will need to also make an outlet nozzle for it.
Finally you would need a return line to your Tank.

how well do those pond pumps work?
Hare and forbs have some starting a bit over $100 for the pump and you would need to make a steel tankhappy turning

Some one made a coolant system with a plastic tub and the water pump out off a cooler. Its in the main forum but I can't find it. Anyone else remember it?

My lathe has an inbuilt coolant system but I use this type here that I bought... I use it as soluble oil is messy and goes off over time for a machine noit used every day..

RC what do you use for the cutting oil in your fancy system? I use Tap Magic but wouldn't mind finding a cheaper or perhaps better alternative.

I bought a 20l drum of neat cutting oil about 8 years ago.. It was about $110 back then... I have just about run out now so will have to see what else is available now..
It was a Shell brand oil...
