It is with great sadness I have to report that Mark died this morning, finally losing a 4 year fight with cancer.

We met through PM and seemed to click more or less instantly and it was one of his last wishes that I notify the forum.

Often controversial, if not outright blunt;) but with Mark we always got his take on the subject, whether we wanted to hear it or not!

An engineer and machinist of the old school, his advice was good and solid, and as a businessman he was as straight as a die to deal with.

I met him twice when he was on one of his ''border raids'' south to collect a machine he'd bought, and I shall miss his chatty emails and long Sunday morning phone calls, where we put the world to rights.

RIP Mark.

That is a shock, I always took note of what he had to say. It'll be just that bit quieter without him around here, hopefully He's already sorting out a workshop up above.

Awwww Shit:( I always liked Mark and got on really well with him, right from the uk.rec.model,engineering newsgroup days. Had several phone chats with him when I was scouting auction stuff for him down this way. Will miss his straightforward, no-nonsense attitude. RIP matey.

That really is a sad loss ,I never met him, but learnt a lot from his posts on PM ,I was concerned a few weeks ago when I noticed that he had suddenly stopped posting about 6 weeks before ,he reappeared, but did seem different and mentioned he was not well ,nevertheless his passing is a shock to me and I am sure he will be missed both by his family and friends and people on here.

My condolences go to his family and Sami ,thanks for letting us know.

The notification is appreciated, Sami.

PM will be poorer without MM. I think he was someone whose posts most PM regulars quickly learned to read, no matter what the topic. He was part of the curriculum that helped make all of us non-old school guys better at what we do.

Sorry to hear that.

His posts were a pleasure to read and his knowledge of Heidenhain controls was a big help to me. Does he leave family?

Neil

Thanks Sami...
I did not know Mark, but read every word he wrote... was one of the good guys...
Rest in peace Mark...

and now...
DAMIT>> IT's HELL when the big C takes another... it took my Dad at 69...
Lets find the cure for this ASAP

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw your post...what a shocker...had no idea he was ill. How old was he ? My condolences and thanks for letting us know LS.

I always enjoyed his posts -- one of the guys it was easy to learn something new from. If his family or other friends wander to this page -- know that we miss him as well.

Thanks Sami for bringing Mark's passing to the attention of the Forum. I didn't know Mark well; I'm a bit of a recent blow in, but you can get a feel about a person from what they write. I had a few PMs from Mark and he struck me as a Alright Fellow.

Condolences to you for a friend lost, and to his family.

Sami, thanks for the nice note about your friend. Our friend, as his comments (while often shall we say "direct") were useful and obviously shared in a helpful spirit. My condolences on the loss of someone who was obviously a friend.

I'll miss Mark.

My condolances to his family! His posts were interesting and he will be missed! May he rest in peace and out of pain and discomfort. With death comes the end of suffering.

I have lost many of my close friends to that shit, and now having it myself, I feel some connection to everyone else that is battling with it! God Bless and rest in peace, Mark.

Frank
