Latest projects
Thought the Smithy sub forum had been a bit quiet lately so thought I'd post a few images of some recent projects.
I have been making a few axes lately. two out of the three below are folded construction, forge welded, with steel bit inserted and again forge welded in. The third is from the solid bar/Model T ford axle.
These sizes mainly aimed at craft work/bowl or spoon carving type work or whatever.
small one, pictured left without the bit welded in yet; didn't fully grind as wanted the forged finish around the eye/poll. measures 4.5inches long x 2-1/4 edge

They look great. What is the plan for handles, do you make own or but handles and fit them?

Hi Danger Mouse,
Normally make my handles, depends on what size handle and timber i have, but possibly will make from ash or elm or maybe black locust.
Have made one now for the small axe out of some split blanks of spotted gum.
cheers
