I would like to build a Tool post grinder and I wish to base that project on a Waldown TPG why because I have used one on my lathe before. I have two lathes a 7.5 HP 3 phase with a 1.5 m BTC and a smaller 2 Hp single phase 1 meter BTC
Starting in sequence, the first part on the tool post grinder that I am trying to replicate is the spindle body , I need to start at the spindle shaft diameter I am thinking it may be 15 MM then the diameter of the spindle body which I am thinking will be around 45 mm and possibly about 150 mm Long. You will note that I am trying to size everything from the spindle shaft upwards. I do not even know the size of the wheel that I will need, possibly a fine grit about 125 mm but I am guessing at that too.
Next I would like to build a wooden form to cast the body of the tool Post grinder that holds the spindles( there are two spindle bodies one an internal and the other an external grinder.
This is the cast part that secures the tool post grinder to the tool Post on the lathe and also houses the spindle bodies. I have been saving pictures of this model grinder to attempt to reverse engineer this attachment
If anyone can help me I would love to hear from you
