Default Leveling Feet/Casters for Bridgeport Mill

I recently struggled with how I might lift my newly acquired Bridgeport off its pallet and move it into position. I finally solved the problem by sliding the front off the pallet and mounting leveling feet/casters, then doing the same with the rear of the machine. This also fixes the issue of a substantial slope in my garage floor near the walls. I used 5" x 2" 1/4" wall rectangular tubing with leveling feet that have integral casters. Since the machine is now 7" taller, I bought a 7" high work platform. The stability is increased with the wider stance.

I used Zambus ALC1000FB casters. They weren't cheap at $58 each, but had a load capacity of 4,400 lbs. for the four of them. I tossed the bolts that came with them and substituted 3/8-16 grade 8 bolts. Had to clean up the holes a smidge for them to fit.

If that was I, I would drop onto the floor to make it more less prone to vibrations, and getting rid trip hazards...cant be thinking about milling while holding a beer and then still have enough mind power left to remember you need to step off of something to get another endmill....or beer

I don't normally drink beer while operating the equipment.

    Default Mobile Mill Base

I recently had similar problems when I brought a 1.3 tonne East German mill.
My engine hoist was not capable of lifting it off the pellet safely, so I hired a 1.5 tonne $200 a day gantry crane from Kennards to do the job.
As I had no intention of ever spending that sort of money again, I made a steel base that would be a semi-permanent accessory.
Made from 200 x 100 x 6 rhs and 100 x 100 x 6 shs brought at scrap price it allows me to move the mill using my pellet jack with little effort.
I can't take a better photo at this time so the one taken on my phone has to suffice.

I like the fact that the pallet jack forks slide into the base. Is there some way of leveling or adjusting for irregularities in the floor surface?

    Default leveling the base.

Plasmaman I missed your post completly.
I could not think of a leveling solution, so I put a 900mm square mat made from re-constituted car tyre rubber under the base.
It seems to do the trick.
There is also a 6mm thick nylon sheet between the mill and the base.
