Loco build shaper work
SAM_0614.jpgSAM_0613.jpgSAM_0612.jpgA little bleat for Saturday
My horn keeps call for 1/2X 3/8" flat bar. All I had was 25 X 10mm so over to the CMZ shaper.
Four pieces were clamped in each setup so the downfeed was kept to 1.5mm and crossfeed to 0.2mm. Not trying to race but need metal therapy after a of a week.
A turning tool grind was put on the tool and the load when cutting was minimal. I hope the pics show the surface finish achieved and even with a rough setup the overall size was acceptable. Within .002".
Butlers book on shaper work is a good starting point.
After lunch it's drilling and tapping.

I have always wanted a shaper but since we downsized just before I retired I no longer have the room - I'm envious.
