Artistic Metal worker
Not everyones cup of tea but this bloke makes a lot of his own tools and he does it with flair.
He has a sense of fun as well.
This time it is a optical center punch.

certainly artistic.
Always cringe though when I see people using verniers for marking out

Should not be an issue so long as the material you are marking is softer than the vernier

Agreed. If they were being used on highly abrasive material with heavy pressure - no good. But using it to mark blue with light pressure on a smooth soft surface? Not an issue.

I have been using my vernier for 9 years to mark out ( as just about every other jeweller on the planet does a) and there is no wear or any other detrimental affect
