New kind of metal vise.
Hi.
This is my idea about the "ultimate" vise.
There is so many different needs for different needs. There is no way to make one vise that could fill needs of the machinist to blacksmith.
I just designeg this to improve regular bench vise on the home workshop. It can be used when you want to clamp something without leaving marks to it, or with higher force when it doesn't matter if workpiece gets scratched or not.
It allows to change different "tooling' for to make bends, clamp round / square tubings, ring rollers.. etc. To allow easier / faster upgrade & different uses.
It would have made video too long to show all possibilities.
That's why part 2 comes later, of course some possibilities are the ones that needs to be imagined by the viewer itself.
I have seen so many "ultimate" welding tables & workbenches.. none of them have been suitable to my needs. So, i think there's no way to make anykind of "ultimate" anything that would be perfect for every user.

Its a quick action vise, but still strong.
Also it can be used with a jack.
This build continues with a electric hydraulic jack, and
with a set if different adds, ring roller, pipe bender.. etc.

Made a longer handle.
I had no suitable axle when i made the original one.

It was made with the same way.
12mm axle, weld a piece of pipe to the other end. And grind weld smooth.

Another end is "turned" with a drill and angle grinder.
( Like seen on the video )

Rubber plug with 6mm hole.
Shape of the axle locks it on its place.
( Also, very tight fit )

Nice feeling for the fingers / palm in use.

Extra container for the jack.
Now it works better on sideways.
Material is 1,5mm stainless steel.

Testing with modified hydraulic jack..
Jack is still unfastened, that makes using little tricky. Also handle is too short, and with little too small diameter...
But it works like expected. Now i can go forward...
Extra container is weld to the original container trough the hole, where i later placed the cap fitting.
This gives little extra room for welding. Cap fitting was weld on its place after containers we're densely weld together.

Girl, I don't wanna know about your mild-mannered alter ego or anything like that." I mean, you tell me you're, uh, super-mega-ultra-lightning babe? That's all right with me. I'm good. I'm good.

Finished the jack for this build. Now its ready. Next i continue with the motorized version.
Handle is made from a stainless pipe, and weld on its place. Nylon pushings prevents wobling movement in use.

And now this multi purpose vise starts to be finished.

Equipped with ring roller dies on the picture.
My original plans:

Not quite same as the result, but at the same direction tought.
Then its time to continue with the electric jack conversions.

The modular idea is interesting, although it does appear to limit the ability to roll smaller loops having the roller set up in the vice like that.

Yes, it limits the the minimum diameter for the ring to 350mm. But, it allows to make rings using thicker and wider material.
I have made this version earlier.
1 (1).jpg
It allows to make smaller rings, but material thickness is max 4mm for 20mm wide flat / 3mm for 50mm wide.
Vise version rolls easily 5mm x 60mm flat. Haven't tried thicker.
That was what i wanted, without need to build another dedicated ring roller system.
But, of course. I can make another add for the vise for rolling smaller rings if i found it reasonable.
That was the idea in this, it can be upgraded easily.
