To the untrained eye this looks like a pretty cheap Bridgeport Mill
Bridgeport Milling Machine | eBay
I'd be keen if it were a bit closer.

A C series Monarch, looks like my CY. Probably a war baby. Way, way, way overpriced. Very solid lathes, superbly built when new, but only 40mm spindle bore and top speed probably around 500 rpm, though the headstock is such that this can be raised significantly.
Plus - it's a long way from new. Who knows what condition it's in.
The seller is the usual clueless nitwit - no useful details on the ad at all. Given all Monarchs have a data plate giving the model number, swing, distance between centres and build date, not posting a photo of that plate is either too lazy for words or pig ignorant.
Edit: It's almost certainly not a CY when I look more closely, as it has a hand crank on the tailstock. That would make it a 20" swing machine, maybe more. The TS alone would mass more than a Hercus lathe.....

Cheapish horizontal mill in Qld
Clean looking semi-universal Vic mill:
Milling Machine Victoria Horizontal Project in QLD | eBay
FWIW it's in a buy-it-now (or make an offer) format so posting here can't affect the price or stuff up an item someone might be watching - unlike posting auction format listings - i'm just sayin'

Not sure if this is having a dig at me or anyone else who post's ones that are in the auction format ?
I'd say that Ebay / Gumtree / ect would have a much higher internet traffic than this forum, personally I see it as helping out fellow forum members if I post something that is of interest to them that they might not have previously been aware of. Can also be good as a point of reference if someone is thinking of selling some of their gear as they can go back and see what stuff sold for prior. With that in mind, here is another Auction format listing one
Bridgeport Milling Machine
Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia
Bridgeport milling machine with slotting head and digital read out, in good working condition.
- having a look at the pics, the slotting head is not a Bridgeport built one but a "Hindustan Machine Tools Ltd" one, guessing made in India, appears to have been adapted to fit the mill as you can see the adapter plates that have been made to bolt it up
- DRO appears to be only a 2 axis DRO ? has Anilam MiniWizard written on it
- not sure how much the milling head would have been used / it's current condition, appears to be missing the quill lever

There are two historic issues here -
- Non-members have been known to look at this page and find out about items they otherwise would not have known of, and
- Sometimes a member has found something they think is worth having but by other members knowing about it there is a potential bidding war.
At least with a BIN price, the buy price is not pushed up if other know about it.
Whether to post something seen on an auction site is a balancing act, and I know some members if they know others are looking for particular hardware will send a PM in preference. Sometimes members will express an interest in a particular lot online as a polite way of suggesting others don't bid or perhaps contact them to head off any bidding battle.
There is also a view that there is little to be gained by putting up items easily found on ebay as most people have access to it. It's the rare, unusual or poorly identified items that are most likely to be of interest, especially on lesser visited sites.
(my 2c worth anyway) Michael

It can however cause someone to miss out on it completely..... I had this happen to me the other day, the item wasn't even posted on here. Was posted on Gumtree, called the seller as soon as I became aware of the ad, was only a couple hours old at this stage, had to have a quick look at a car for a mate then was off to look at it. Agreed that I would call him to let him know when I was leaving my mates place as the Mill wasn't at his place and he had to meet me at the shop where it was. Called when I was leaving my mates place which was only a couple hours later, in that time someone else had called, was able to go look at it immediately, bought it on the spot.
Am I disappointed that I missed out ? yeah, sure
Am I annoyed at the seller ? Nope, I could have been a tyre kicker for all they knew
Like you said, there are pro's and con's of posting and not posting, I like a bargain as much as the next guy, but would hate if I had to sell any of my gear and didn't get a decent price for it, I'm sure everyone else is the same. While more people looking for items means more competition when buying stuff, it also means more people in the hobby so more machines are turned over.
I'll stop rambling now

My 2 cents ... I like to see the the auctions, etc posted here, as I don't have time to scour ebay, gumtree, etc. Seeing these items here is the only way I'll see them.
So a big thank you to those that post such listings.Cheers.
Vernon.
