metal letter punch sets
hi,
i was wondering if anyone knows where i could find letter punch sets (like these) that have uppercase AND lowercase letters in a "typewriter font".
does anyone know if these are even available?
from what i have seen, there only seems to be sans-serif uppercase letters.
thanks,
jan.

Hi Jan,
Try some leatherworking places, or saddlers. They have upper and lower case letter sets that may work for you.
cheers

Jan
Thats something that I have never thought about, but now that you have mentioned it, I too wonder if different fonts are available.
You could try posting on a couple of the USA maching forums.

I'd just like to find my own set of letter and number stamps that I put in a safe place in my shed about 8 months ago. Still looking.

Here's the Leffler Leather Merchants link - look for the Leather Craft link and you'll see the letter sets at the top of the list.
Here's Birdsall Leather and Craft
Hmm, looks like the sets are just upper case though...
Anyway, interesting browsing.
cheers

Gee thanks Mate LOL. I've been holding off doing that because I can't stand the thought of it getting the better of me and, as is usual, as soon as I do spend the money on a new set the old ones will turn up. Worst bit is I can remember exactly when & where I last used them but have no idea where I put them after. GRRRR.

There are specialised letter punch sets where you set the type like an old fashioned printing press into a rectangular punch- I think I've seen them at McJing's, possibly Coventry Fasteners and/or Blackwoods or even H&F. Fairly small letters as you have to get the entire row of letters with one hit of the hammer.
