Band saw tension
HI All , this is my first post and would like some info, I have a metal band saw for which I have just purchased new bands as I have gone through a few they cut crooked after a while. They seem to have the teeth flattened on the inside of the band could this be because I have the tenison too tight or have I got another problem.
Thank you Rod

Rod, a picture and a brand/model would help.
If the teeth are flattened on the inside it sounds like the rubber on the wheels may be worn.
Also, you said it is a "metal' band saw, you did mean it is made of metal, not used to cut metal didn't you?

Ok Rod, this may be better off in the metal working forum, but my guess is tension may be the culprit. That said though, I know very little about metal saws.

welcome rod not sure if this saw is a new one but recently i got a used one and had to replace the guide bearings its not expensive maybe $30 for the 6, it made a world of difference see here for a link on how i set it up although its a different brand and model its very similar http://www.horizontalutilitybandsaw....hxa_Manual.pdf. mine is the common variety tiawanese rf 115 . the old guide bearings had the outside casing worn so they were slightly rounded they should be flat. the tension now doesnt have to be over the top just firm hand tightening of the screw.keep the sliding guides as close to the work as possible hope this helps
