    Default Welding helmet repair

    Hi again,
On a bit of a camera frenzy in the shed this afternoon!
Some of you may have realised by now I'm a cheapskate, always scrounging and repairing instead of buying new! So here's a shot of my repaired (or modified) welding helmet. Was forced into it a few weeks ago, and since it seems to have worked OK I haven't bothered buying a new helmet!
Basically the Jackson Omniview is made in the US and I couldn't get parts for the headband assembly, since BOC stopped selling them. Nothing I could find seemed to fit properly, so I scrounged a couple of clear face shields being thrown out at work. The headbands were fine, adjusted and held, everything worked OK, just old. So I cut off the straight part that clipped the visor, along with the pivots, on the bandsaw and simply pressed it inside the welding helmet! The pivots lined up with the existing holes and everything went back in place. Fully adjustable for headsize and tilt, with friction control...back on the job!! Didn't even need to glue or rivet the yellow section in.

    Cheers,
