hyanyang vfd tips and settings
Hi I'm using a 2.2kw vfd drive to run my 3ph lathe on 240v supply.
I have so far not been able to get it to run in reverse. I have read the
manual and had a few goes at it.
Im using a 3 position 3 pin toggle switch to control the vfd
it is wired up like this photo. this photo is not my machine but
a photo seafury mike sent me.
Attachment 202463
the lathe run in the forward direction from the toggle switch just not the
reverse direction.
there is a lot of program addresses to check and i think i must have some thing wrong.
ive all ready set pd 13 to 8 for a factory reset but no luck.

Is the toggle switch faulty?
Mine worked forward/reverse straight out of the box...Gold, the colour of choice for the discerning person.

Hi Aaron,
I'm not sure what seafurry is up to, I think it maybe wired correctly but it "looks" incorrect.
If you have the white wire on one terminal of the switch and the blue wire on another then you've done it wrong(I think)
The white and blue appear to be paired so they should both be on the center terminal of the switch(assuming your switch is the same as the picture) the black on one of the outside terminals and the red on the other outside terminal.
PD001=1
PD023=1
PD044=2
PD045=3
PD013=8???? it should have been PD013=1 I believe(did I make a typo in my earlier post?)

hi i new id get a few answers thanks guys.
well ive tested the switch in circuit it seems fine. with a meter and by reversing the leads.
ill have a look at this Stuart. the pd13 is normally "01" but i changed it to "08" to reset the
drive setting i think it would be 1 atm.
as a result of this weekends fiddling my lathe runs in reverse but not forward. the forward light is blinking but not turning the spindle. So im actually worse of.
the 4 settings you listed i believe im using the same ones .
My switch is wired like the drawing the center pair going to dcm and the other ones to for and rev.

Hi Aaron,
Are you sure you are picking up the correct terminals on the switch?
Are there three or four terminals?
Got a picture?
8? my manaul says nothing about 8. It says normally PD013=00 and PD013=01 for reset. Try PD013=00. If its currently 1 it will be resetting everytime you turn it on (I think. Maybe your VSD is a little different to mine?).

Another thing i was wondering does a flashing display have any significance ?

Hi Aaron,
Wiring looks correct, for forward reverse switching.
The display just flashes when it's not running.
So it must be something in the VFD parameters.
Check the following.. ( which I just noticed is exactly what Stuart had already said.. )
PD 001 = 1 use terminals
PD 023 = 1 enable reverse
PD 044 = 2 Multifunction input 1 is FORWARD
PD 045 = 3 Multifunction input 2 is REVERSE

Hi Aaron,
Make sure PD013=0 first.
Then what Ray said.
Anyone used PD13? does it self reset to 0 after a reset?

Hi Aarron,
Are you saying it runs in Fwd via the front panel and Rev via your switches?

Hi Aaron,
Disconnect the switch and wires.
Just get a short length of wire and strip both ends, then connect one end to DCM, and the other leave it unconnected.
Power up the drive.
Now touch the wire to the FOR terminal, if it doesn't run forward, check the parameter settings. (be careful to keep your hands and the wire away from the high voltage terminals... )
If it runs forward ok, then try touching it to the REV terminal
If all that works then your switch is faulty.
Regards
Ray
