    Default Gears-home made

    Has anyone made gears at home.I have info ,lots of it on how to do it.(Possibly not the way trained machinists do it )HSM (home shop machinist)info is what i have .If there are others who want to attempt the making of gears ,please get in touch.Hopefully we can compare notes , info and abilities.

    Hi Forge,
    I made up a lathe change gear the other day, and it really wasn't all that difficult once I was set up.....I turned the blank on the lathe, turned an arbour to suit the blank, fitted arbour into indexing head on the verticle mill, made an arbour to suit the cutter, fitted it in the collet chuck, and cut full depth of each tooth in one pass.....
