Information on a Record No 217 tube bender
I picked this bender up today. Its a Record No 217.
I have tried google etc to find a picture of it in its entirety to work out what is missing off it.
It also has 2 metal sections with a groove machined along their length which seem to match the tube size but cant see how they would fit up to the bender.
If someone has a photo or a link to something like a catalogue that could show how its set up, it would enable me to knock up the missing parts.
Thanks.

Hello Sparksy, the pieces of bar with the groove in them, go up against the roller with the groove side on the pipe/tube.
As the handle is pulled around, it moves up the bar, which stops the pipe/tube being squashed.
I don't think any o the parts are missing.
I did find a short you tube clip, of a machine bending pipe to give you an idea of what I meant, regarding the grooved blocks.

I can't really see how the bender is supported, either in a vise or on a trestle bench, so would be interested to see that.

Many moons ago I had to do steel conduit work, the company had an old Rothenberger that looked very similar. Kryn is on the money for how it works, it’s not missing any bits.
The Rothenberger mounted to a foldout tripod arrangement on a stake through a hole in the body. It was set up so the bending force was all in a downward direction, ie your body weight and gravity are working for you. The Record looks like it mounts in a similar fashion.
Keep in mind these things are for copper and light gauge steel conduit and not really designed to make complex bends, because you don’t really want complex bends in a pipe you want to pull a cable through.

Thanks for the replies.
I found a similar model on ebay in england late last night. But its a 218 and it uses 2 handles. My one has a mount for something with a retaining pin instead of the second handle so I think racingtadpole might be on the money with mine being mounted on a tripod. Also found instructions.
