Default Rung fu mill/drill spares availability.

    I’ve maybe doing a swap and getting a 1982 Taiwanese made RF25 mill/drill.
I haven’t seen it except for a few photos but the mate says it has a couple of problems.

‘The bracket holding the quill depth stop is cracked and needs welding or replacing.’
This doesn’t sound like a major dealbreaker I can probably fix this myself.

‘The bronze nut on the front/back axis is cracked causing a bit of slop on that axis.’
Would a replacement be available for this?

    Thanks H.

I bought a load of parts for my RF-31 a couple of years ago. Didn’t have any issues with the manufacturer.

If it's the right price grab it, you can make new parts if nessasary if parts are not available, but going from the post above they available.
Any mill is better than no mill in my eyes.

Definitely! Mines worn in the middle of the x axis but I’ve learnt to work around it and still get great parts. I tried once on my lathe, never again.

Would the Hare and Forbes copies be the same? Maybe they can supply parts.

I just went through my emails. I actually ordered my parts through Hare and Forbes.

HAFCO may not be of any help depending on the age of the machine. I tried to order a couple of minor parts for my HM-45 through them last year and was told they had changed supplier three times since mine was sold in 2008 and that they couldn’t assist.

The quill stop is no big deal, that can be manufactured once you have the mill operating. The cracked nut is more problematic but not insurmountable. If necessary you could have one made to suit the screw with minimal backlash. I would make one for you if I didn’t have my Hercus in pieces at the moment.

The cracked nut will be available, it may be just a matter of asking the right question. That is "who has done a CNC conversion on a Rung Fu?"

I was offered some bits back a bit for free from someone who had done a conversion. I said no as I did not need them. He found someone who wanted them for a project.

Agreed. I did one for someone a year back. I think the worst part was the cost of the bronze for the nut. Everything else was straightforward, if a bit time consuming.
