Myford Super 7 lathe
Hi I'm from South Africa, Western Cape. Is there somebody that has experience setting up a Myford Super 7 lathe to cut Imperial threads using a Norton gearbox?
Regards Barry

If you give us some photos of the back gear train and the box we can piint you in the right direction. Most likely its an imperial machine so it'll be very simple, count the threads per inch of your leadscrew and report back.

Hi Barry,
Welcome to the forum.
I have an Imperial Myford S7LB with a Norton gearbox. Normally the gearbox settings for all the threads that it can cut using the gearbox can be read from the plate riveted to the top of the gearbox. The only got-ya is if the fine/coarse feed gear is the wrong way round. I always have mine in the fine feed position, at this point in time because I often cut a metric thread, I use a 33 or 34 tooth gear after the tumbler in place of the 21 tooth gear that is normally there. Somewhere I have a chart listing the available threads that can be cut using this gear arrangement. Though this chart is available on the MEM forums.
