    Default Kondia owners PLEASE help......

    Hi all,
I have a FV-1 Kondia step belt pully J head.
My problem is the timing belt has broken and I need to find a replacement.
I can't find anything online at all.....
I took the belt to my local bearing supplier who stocks and or can source timing belts etc.
I need a 42 tooth belt and there is no such animal.
Online searches for milling mmachine timing belts brings us many different sizes and tooth counts, but absolutley nothing for a Kondia.. I find it hard to believe there is no such thing.... If this is the case every Kondia out there will
end up at the scrap yard.

    Please please help.

    Thanks in advance
    Matt

Matt if you are after the belt for the variable speed it won't matter about the tooth count, i think you might find that it is a cogged belt and the cogs are there for cooling. So you just need the correct length and width......

    Hi Shed,
It's the belt under that one, It drives the spindle and back gear. The teeth on the belt rive on a toothed pully/drive wheel. I will try too get a photo later this evening when it's not 400 degrees in the shop.

That is stooopid place to put a belt. this drawing shows the belt here https://www.lwta.net/photos/KONDIA-FV1-CNC-REBUILD.pdf

A post on PM https://www.practicalmachinist.com/v...isting-324375/ quoted the part No as Timing Belt (used for low gear) HTD560-8M-30 x 1

A search on googs brought this up https://www.ianboettcherraceparts.co...560-8M-30.html That was the only one i looked at and it does not say how many teeth it has so maybe shoot them an email.

Shed, the HTD belts are in mm pitch, so an 8M is 8mm pitch.
560 belt would be 70 tooth - so doesn't tie up with the OP's 42 tooth.

If it IS a HTD8M that would tie up with the local belt place saying that there isn't a 42 tooth, as it looks like they jump from 40T to 44T:

Matt - is there any form of tensioner on the belt, and how did you work out that it needed to be 42T?

    Matthew,

My FV-1 has the stepped pulleys for speed adjustment, not the matched cones for speed adjustment.

But, it has a 42 toothed belt for the backgear.
    Uniroyal PowerGrip 30293 x 1 1/4 B9N1

It was purchased locally in Sydney, I think from a belt distributor, not a retail outlet.

    Keep well,
    John.

My Kondia has the Variable speed , the belt i removed when i replaced it ,the bottom belt was a Gates Power Grip 40173 X 1 1/4 , i wrote on it H section 1/2 inch pitch 42 Tooth , i struggled to get a replacement from the usual sources and i think i ended up getting one on EBay ,

When you do find a source, it might pay to buy 2 or 3 so you have a couple of spares.

I think you'll find Kondia are made by Lagun and branded with a few different names. Mine is a Pacific but parts come from Lagun in Spain.

Last time I sourced a belt for my Pacific mill, I found these guys sell the belt I needed.

H & W machine repair. They are in the US and I have found them very helpful in the past.
