Thanks Bob. I want to use water thats thats out, but I'm sure there would be something else suitable. Might be do-able.

I reckon timber or ply would be ok, paint it if you like.
I have never seen water dripping off anything from the evap coolers in the house or the shed, the plaster around all vents in the house are not affected in any way and i have never seen any moisture anywhere so i dont know what is pushing that meme/fear that you could not use timber? No doubt it comes from someone or some people that have never even had an evap cooler and thinks in their tiny little brains that gallons of water will be gushing out into the immediate environment

Depending on how cheap arsed you want to be you can make vents out of a sheet of Colorbond.
This is one I made for the mens shed dust extractor enclosure vent.
    Its just pop riveted together.

Can you recall any more info in this Bob? I've googled and searched images with various words but nothing appears. Might try this.
$400 for a workshop Plenum is crazy.

All of the images pre about 2012 will be long gone anyway.

I seem to remember he made a ply frame box with a pyramid shape up into the middle to act was a 4 way diverter. I don't recall what the vents were made of.

You could fibreglass one up off a cardboard form pretty easily. Doesn’t need to be an inverted mould.

Weather that was the quality of the orange brand cast iron or just dumb luck who knows

That's a thought.... I've not much experience with FG.

    Thinking using ply atm.
Made a 1:10 scale model today, out of cardboard to see if it all fits.

G/day Harry, maybe your rust was caused by the salt air that you were sucking in, i live some distance from the ocean and condensation is more of a (slight) problem, i think if there is any moisture coming out of my cooler it is quickly evaporated away as it is always hot when used.
Is it possible that if near the ocean even an exhaust fan drawing in humid air could cause more rust problems.
Another important point would be every bit of cast iron in my shed would have oil on it, not sure that woodies protect their cast iron this way?
I dont know much about wood working machinery so what do you use to protect against rust?

I do live near the water but not close enough for salt to be a problem, only was using paste wax for protection that seems to hold off rust under normal conditions even when its humid.
None of my machines has rusted any more after being cleaned up providing I keep regularly using and applying the wax every few months, I did let them go for about 6mths when I shifted to the new place while getting the WW shed set up and they did lightly patina some more but no where near as much when I used the swampy in my old shed a few times.

Now Im in the new place I tend to WW in the cooler times and head to the metal/car shed when its hotter where I do have one of those portable swampy aircons, my metal shed has very good cross ventilation with sliding doors on opposing sides(drive straight through).
I do "inox" my cold rolled sheet that seems to keep the rust at bay, the rest of the metal is either galv and blue primed rhs or already rusty!

I got a quote for a new dropper, flashing and plenum recently. All was ok, except for the plenum price.
Asked for a pic to see what I was paying for and it looks good.

Had a look on Gumtree and found one with director and adapter for $230, so that will do me. "Lock it in Eddie...."
Cheap enough to not have to make one and alot quicker.

    Its coming together slowly....lol

Still collecting hardware for the install.
I accidently bought another complete Breezair, cheap, off gumtree, locally that is supposed to have a fault. I promise not to buy any more.....really....
Got the dropper, flashing and plenum, and a spare contoller.

Will have a play with the 2nd one and see if I can fix it, as its a closer colour to my shed roof.

Think with swampys is there really aint much to em.

Bypassed the computer crap on my swampy when that part shat itself.

After looking at other possible methods of speed control, I said f*%$ it and hooked fan up so she's flat out or nuthin.

Its in 200mtr square mtr tin box (shed).

If something else *s itself, its just matter of (pond) pump, filters and fan motor - all of which dont seem too hard to come by for an ok price. I replaced the fan motor in my fathers unit, straight bolt up replacement

Thats OK in a big shed but in a smaller shed a flat out swampy can be noisy.

If you are going to replace the motor a used 3P motor and a cheap VFD is one possibility. One of my squirrel cage ventilators that I rescued from a skip at work came with a 1/4Hp 3P motor. I'm powering this with $70 VFD so I can have just ticking over at about 30Hz or run it at 70Hz where by it moves a heap of air.

For sure. However with summer coming on fast, add the fact I work out of it, I needed to do something easy and fast that I knew was gunna work straight up.
