Jacobs 3A Chuck Key
Im having trouble locating a Suitable chuck key for a Jacobs 3A chuck here in Australia. Now there is a very good possibility my internet search skills are not up to scratch so if someone could steer me in the right direction.
Just a little confusing. From the research I did its possible a chuck key for a K3B is also similar. the bore size is imperial 5/16. Its a great strong chuck. Shame not to use it.
Any help would be appreciated.

Most hardware and tool suppliers have replacement keys on the shelf, the last couple of times I’ve needed a replacement I’ve taken the chuck for a drive until I found one that fitted.
This says the 3a and b use the same key

Thanks for that. I have taken the chuck with me on several drives with no success.
The site you linked is in the USA or Australia?

Travers is an American supplier, linked it only to show the 3A appears to use the same key as the 3B.
Plenty of suppliers available in AU for a Jacobs K3 chuck key

Thanks Nev
Unfortunately that item is located in the UK. I would rather support an Australian seller. I rang around yesterday to few suppliers but none could confirm if they had anything to match.
I will take the chuck for another drive today and see how I go.

I think that I have seen a range of chuck keys at McJings at Yagoona, so they may have one suitable (if its not too far away for you).
Another suggestion would be to try Mick Moyles at Summer Hill.

No luck with McJing or Moyles. Why is this so hard?
I will try Blackwoods but after calling them yesterday they couldnt confirm if they have a chuck key that will match.

Call Tool Guide in Melbourne
They have an eBay listing for a 3651 K3 Jacobs replacement that is showing out of stock.
They also have a fairly extensive listing for universal replacement ones that have 11 and 12 teeth
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/16420421...EAAOSwxB5fvzqR
The 3651 is 5/16 pilot with 11 Teeth.
https://www.industrialhardware.com/j...-model-k3.html
My guess is that the 7.9mm pilot replacement key in the Tool Guide listing above is a direct knock off of a Jacobs.
Ive purchased from them previously without hassle.

Some random googling earlier for something completely different has provided a little bit of information that might help.
It appears the Rohm S10 chuck key is interchangeable with a Jacobs K3, they appear to be somewhat more readily available also.
