    Default Tailstock Alignment

I have a new AL50G from H&F that has a problem with the tailstock alignment. It has a taper to it, I discovered the problem when I wanted to drill a hole in a roller bushing to make a jig. It was bought through a third party.
When the dead centres are installed, it lines up within tolerance, but when I installed a drill chuck and a 16mm drill bit, (approx 200mm total length from the sleeve) it was about 12-13 mm off centre.
I did rotate the chuck and bit to several places to try and overcome the problem, thinking it was a combination of the two, but it was still there.
To get around the problem initially, I adjusted the tailstock so that the bit was on centre, but would like to fix it properly,
Has anyone come across this problem before???
    Thanks,
    Kryn

wind the quill of the tailstock out, mount a indicator to the carriage and check that the quill is parallel.

Based on your length dimension, it would seem if using a dead centre in the Tailstock with the quill wound out the centres between headstock and Tailstock should be out by around 2 mm.
