    Default Oil for 6 x 4 Bandsaw

I thought I had seen some suggestions on the Forum for gearbox oil for generic 6 x 4 bandsaws but a search didn't reveal much.

I am thinking something similar to Penrite Pro Gear Oil 75W-90 GL-4 as there is a bronze gear involved and seems readily available. Any thoughts on whether this would be suitable or suggestions for alternatives?

Hi Grunto, I contacted Penrite earlier this year about a bandsaw that I bought trying to see if they had a suitable oil for the gearbox, Penrite was very helpful. The Bandsaw that I have is a UE-250S which is a much bigger saw. The manual for the saw stated '50 weight gear oil' I did some research and emailed Penrite and I have ended up using Mild EP Gear Oil SAE 110 which is this one https://penriteoil.com.au/products/m...ar-oil-sae-110 (it's also ideal as an ISO 320industrial gear oil. Also Penrite assured me that this is safe with a bronze worm gear. It comes in 1 liters bottles so your not having to buy 20 liters of the stuff. Some of the smaller bandsaws only use grease in the gearbox and not oil. The 6 X 4 bandsaw that I had years ago I used Fuchs Titan Supergear 80w/90. Hope that helps.

Thanks Stewart - I have tracked some down and I will give it a go.
