Affix Brass to Weathering Steel?
If I attach a piece of sheet brass to a larger piece of weathering steel, will I have galvanic corrosion problems between the two metals? Does the joining method matter? I could use cold fastening (bolts, probably also brass) or silver solder.

By weathering, do you mean there is already rust there?
Many old machines have brass nameplates on corroded steel parts like electric motor housings, seem to hold up OK if not beautifully.

I mean Cor-ten steel. It forms a protective oxide layer that stops ordinary rusting. Some claim it also insulates so galvanic corrosion isn't an issue, but the oxide layers takes months/years to form. I should have noted that this piece will live outdoors. Good point about brass nameplates.

I've only noticed what looks like stainless steel info plates on Corten containers, but brass might also be used.
You could with some thin rubber gasket etc provide a separation between the metals, that needn't be obvious?

First up,welcome to the MetalWork Forums.
You joined an Australian based MetalWork Forum so mainly we talk in terms of products and vendors known local to us.
A good bunch of fellas but we talk different ok? Solder is pronounced by us with an L , Solder not Sodder.
What A brass Plaque attached to corten steel
Why To avoid corrosion
How Possibily, silver solder or alternately fasteners
When How long does this have to last?- where it will live is a important factor
Where The environment- is it a salt mine or submerged in an acid?
Who well obviously you ,but do you have the tools and equipment you may need.
The information base needs to be a little bit broader as one facet may affect another.
You will find many like minded folk here with same interests as you.

To be honest I think you have a very low chance of getting an answer to something as specialised as this on any forum. And even if someone gave me an answer I probably wouldn't trust it. I would talk to the manufacturer's technical support. They will be all over the chemistry of the surface layer.

Brass fasteners would be the best choice, see chart.
