In the interest of transparency here is the exact wording of the last message I sent the seller. I am trying to be nice, but suspect the seller does not understand the process or is just difficult to deal with. As I have aged I am trying to treat everyone a nicely as possible. I know it often does not work but it is the side of the road I have chosen to walk on.
Can you please sort this out with Ebay. As I committed to buy I am getting notifications that I have not paid. I can't pay because you sold this to someone else. I don't want negative feedback on my Ebay account for not paying for an item. This is chewing up my time trying to sort with Ebay and just rubbing salt into an all ready disappointing experience.

Well for those that have been following along I have finally received a response from the seller.
It reads as follows:
Steve, I'm sorry this has been such a mix up with the Metal shaper. I'm a 77 year old pensioner who is a first time user of E-Bay.
I have managed to get in touch with E-bay who will send me an email to show how to resolve the situation. I will be in touch.
So at least the Ebay side has/should be sorted, I am hopeful my shaper and I will meet one day wherever it is. I thought this was the one.
I am curious who ended up with the Shaper 4 hours after it was listed on Ebay and how the deal was done in the middle of a lockdown.

Don't be surprised if the seller re-advertisies it. Sometimes these chaotic types of sales fall through.
The buyer decides he doesn't want it after all, can't afford it, can't collect it, won't fit in his workshop, etc. You know the type.Chris

I sympathise with your disappointment at being 'gazumped'. A rotten feeling. One will come up. Pity how they have all lost their vises over the decades.
On a side note, is that a genuine pommy Alba machine, or a re-badged Macson? Apart from the drive arrangement (which is bolted on), it is identical to my Macson in every detail that I can see in the photos, and has a 'McPhersons' badge. I was of the understanding that my Macson was a licensed copy of an Alba machine but have not seen one that is so exactly similar.

I just looked at that shaper. Sorry to hear you missed on it.
That would be very disappointing.
Interesting thing, that Alba looks identical to my Macson 18" When I mean identical I mean identical castings and shape.
Identical in every way except the speed change pulleys. That part looks like someone has modified it at some stage. I could very well be wrong.
My macson has a 6 speed gearbox. Is there a chance that this could have been modified?
If so, then the $1000 price may be a tad overpriced.
Keep looking. Another one will pop up.

Thats a bargain PDW!
I paid $350 from another forum member. It needs some work as was pointed out when I purchased. It also came with the original vice. Which, as you would know is a very sturdy vice!
