Installing qctp,need advice please
The thread on the new qctp mounting bolt is different to the original on my Sheraton Conquest 10. I figure the simplest way is to modify the thread on the new bolt to fit the original base plate. The bolt shaft is a larger diameter so I think its ok to modify.
Any reasons why this is a bad idea?
And if its a good idea, can anyone from Central Coast NSW point me toward a machinist who will do such a small job?
And yes, my lathe does cut screws, but I haven't graduated screw cutting school and I don't want to risk a mistake on this vital part.

Thanks for all your great support. In the end I forked out for a tap and die set and modified the thread.20210807_142148.jpg
