Saw blade holder
Hi, I have to make a custom saw to cut grooves in aluminium bar etc. Already have a spindle motor with set of collets. Need to find a shaft to hold/clamp the blade and then attach to the collet on the spindle motor. Does anyone know where i can find such an attachment?
Many thanks
Erick

Going to need to know a bit more. What collet sizes do you have, what size slitting saw are you going to run?

Thanks for the reply. I have an ER20 spindle motor with collet set. Was thinking 10mm shaft. The groove needs to be cut 3.5mm wide. The smaller the radius of the blade the better i guess

Something like this?

You'll have to match the bore with whatever blades you choose.Nev.

Shop around. There will surely be others. Also, I don't know how many teeth on the blade will be best. Someone else here may help with that.

Great work finding them so quickly, your on the ball so to speak.
Usually negitive rake and high speed for aluminium, but coolant and slower speed with positive rake will get you by.
Aluminium expands quite quickly closing in on the blade I've found.

If you need to do long slots or through slots (eg across a bar at full depth) then one of the small circular saw blades specifically for aluminium might be an option (they can be had down as small as 136mm diam). Or a biscuit joiner blade (generally 100mm diam) - but they are positive rake so might need some tweaking.

Hi Guys,
There is always 75 mm plunge saw blades ! 12 mm bore and 2 mm thick. They are TCT and cost a £1 each here. That is when you can get them. Made in China !
