I've ordered a 25cc pump from the UK, that will give me a touch over 40 LPM or about 11 GPM at 540 RPM which is the rated PTO speed. The loader valve is rated at 45LPM nominal flow (whatever that means) so I don't think there's any point trying to exceed that.
When I was timing things after the tractor had cooled down the other day, the rate of movement with cold oil was actually not too far off what I would want, it's only when the oil heats up and the wear in the pump causes it to bypass all the time that it is really slow. Running it off the tractor's own hydraulics is SLOOWWW but at least with the new pump in the tractor it does not run out of power. The biggest problem with the existing pump in the auxilliary unit is that it won't lift a load, apart from being slow when the oil warms up. Hopefully a new pump with a 25% increase in output will solve both problems.
Would be nice to be able to get good loader speed out of the inbuilt hydraulics rather than have to demount the auxilliary unit whenever I want to use another implement, but the aux unit does provide good ballast when the loader is being worked.

I was going to say that Flowfit, despite being in the UK, are a very well priced source of hydraulic gear, including custom hoses. Even with freight they often work out considerably cheaper than local.

Yep that's who I went with, just got off the phone with the manager in fact- he had emailed me that the pump I'd ordered was out of stock, sorted me out with a flanged version and the necessary fittings. Could not have been more helpful. Wish some of our local suppliers were as good to deal with as most of the poms I've bought from.

I’m not trying to be rude mate but most tractors I’ve operated have a pto speed of 540 when the tractor is revving close to 1800rpm. Yours may be different but Just something to be aware of Hydraulic question for the brains trust

Not sure how that could be taken as rude...1800 engine RPM is exactly where 540 PTO RPM happens on this tractor. I guess your point is that I won't be using the loader much with the engine at 1800RPM. I think-hopefully- I should still get a good useable speed out of it without having to rev the tits off it. We'll see I guess, I've got the 25cc pump on it's way.

Yes, the point I was trying to make was that you shouldn’t assume that the pto would be revving at 540 at idle and improve from there. Most power packs are fine to operate at lower revs but may just be a little slower to operate.

I installed the 25cc pump in the auxilliary power pack this afternoon and could not be happier with the result- a very useable speed in all 3 loader / grapple functions even at idle, very nice lift rate with a tickle of the throttle and plenty of power- grabbed and lifted the largest log in my pile- a cypress trunk about 5 meters long and 50 or 60 cm at the thick end; picked it up like nothing. That is about as much as I would anticipate wanting to lift with the grapple- or with the front axle on this little tractor for that matter. The tractor / loader / grapple combination is now officially a very useful bit of kit.
