    Default Starrett surface plate bargain.

This 60" x 36" x 10" Starrett A-- Inspection grade surface plate went up for auction on the weekend, not quite new as described but in excellent condition and a bargain at $812.00 including buyers rip.

Wondering if someone on here scored it?
    Cheers,
    Greg.

That's a great buy, sadly most of us home shops wouldn't use it that much to justify the shed space. Beautiful plate though.

My 1000x600mm surface plate takes up way to much room even though I have a cabinet below it, and the other one the same size is standing against the wall, (on timber wrapped in a thick sheet of course)

Very envious.....never see 2nd hand large surface plates for sale in SA. Would love a large one as thinking of reconditioning some machines sometime in the future.

Just as likely to have been bought to be cut up for kitchen tops.
Gold, the colour of choice for the discerning person.

That’s in part because Black Box and Machinery Disposals have very deep pockets when it comes to stuff like that
I bid on a 6x4 4” thick when Broens went to auction to use as a welding table.. I bowed out at a grand, it sold for nearly 2

    Nooooooooooooooooo!

(although, I just imagined a spotless kitchen bench,
with a scribing block, and some height gauges beside the coffee machine )

The depth of their pockets is only eclipsed by their resale prices.
