Sine Bar
I am on the hunt once again for my BIL who needs a 5" sine bar. I looked at Ebay and the only source of these things seems to be India and I am not sure how orders to India would go at the moment besides quality control issues. I looked at Australian sources with no success and thought one of you guys might know of sources in Oz or China that can supply it. There are some in the US at reasonable prices but the freight can be a bit exxy. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Chris, found a couple on EBay https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/26247855....c101195.m1851
It's in the USA, cost is about $60 plus $20 postage.
I believe most of the items from India are on a level, or better, of what comes out of China.

DSCN1114.jpgI've got a couple of 5" if you're interested. I could deliver for $50. I'll look now & send a photo.
Edit; The one I'd sell is the larger one as the other is matched with my grinding blocks & angle plate.Last edited by Snapey; 11th May 2021 at 10:30 PM. Reason: add photo

A sine bar is a piece of square bar with 2 rounds attached to it, the rounds don't have to be 5" apart. You just need to know how far apart they are and have a calculator with trig functions.

Hi Chris, Guys,
I have and use a "Wixey" digital angle gauge ! It reads to 0.01 and is 100% repeatable, more than I can say about the Aldi angle finder ! That is supposed to read to 0.01 if you are lucky.
But then again I'm not a toolmaker !Best Regards:
Baron J.

In my 60+ years toolmaking I'd have been lost without a sine bar. They make precision grinding of angles a breeze if you have gauge blocks to prop up one end.
