Router Bits
G'Day,
I want to cut a few profiles in aluminum.
What router bits is anyone using?
I'm thinking of trying these:

I have used their straight bits 4,6 and 12mm on aluminium with good success. For the amount of work I do they are fine. If I was doing a lot of work I would step up to something better.
Keep up the lubrication.
Watch the 12mm size it can get away from you if not careful.

They’ll work.
My personal preference is Freud, but since Bunnings stopped selling them they are harder to get.

Hi Ben, Guys,
I've used those router bits many times as milling cutters, even on steel ! You do have to be a bit careful though. I found that it was not difficult to bend the 1/4" inch shaft of them ! If you can get the 1/2" inch shaft ones they are much better. They are good on aluminium and brasses, but because there is no rake on them the material you are machining, gets scraped away rather than cut. They are, at least the ones with straight blades, easy to sharpen.Best Regards:

I use truacut router bits at work in wood.
We don't bother with the bunnings ones as they go blunt so quickly.
Never tried aluminium but the difference for us in wood is drastic.

Sometimes I have bought the chwdp ultra bits from Bunnings and sometimes I have bought proper expensive ones from Bunnings. I have definitely noticed the quality difference between them I’m talking wood only never tried them on ally

Well did a trial run today. I'm happy with the results. 0.5 mm max cuts off the corners, slow manually feed. I can't remember the rpm. The kit came with a chamfer cutter so I'll try that next.
