Default What is this tailstock tool?

I've got one or two things with the Graziano that I've been unable to figure, mostly I think they're just random orphan bits.

This thing however, is driving me nuts, because I've seen a picture of this exact thing before, I think it was in one of the 'shop made tools' type threads on one of the other forums. But while I've seen it before, I cannot for the life of me remember what the point of it was. The obvious answer would be you put tool bits in it, but why on earth would you want to run a toolbit in the tailstock?

The presence of a tang suggests it could be for a drill press?
Maybe the toolbit is a type of custom drill bit?

I'm thinking you could mount a boring bar (in a square sleeve) in it. For repetitive boring, you could then drill and bore with the tailstock - no cross slide adjustments needed.

That would be my thought too.
    Turret lathe style.
Possibly a form tool that would finish a chamfer and counterbore in one pass.

Could also be used for repetitive short OD finishing in the same manner.

Could be right I guess, a poor mans turret setup... Just can't shake the feeling there was something more... exciting to do with it, but maybe not.

Dont forget there is also a taper in the lathe spindle so maybe this tool could be used for machining something held on the crosslide.
