Welding bench (machining content)
After the long project of the crane I'm glad to be back into the short time builds, this is one of them.
This one was only a week or so, a new welding bench. I've never owned a dedicated welding bench.
I like to weld and grind outside but my driveway has a slight slop so I needed a movable table adjustable.
The 12mm top came from the side of the road collection, the basic 75x75x6mm stand was my old surface plate stand modified and the other steel I had second hand here. I also had the wheels from an old metal scrap bin which are made in England and full bearings with grease nipples etc.
The jockey wheel was made out of an old car scissor jack thread rod/nut and some 40x40 and 50x50mm square tube.
The draws and feet basses came from Bollie (Peter) a member here thank you.
I also added a level from an old TV wall bracket to easily see if I've wound down the adjustable feet enough etc.
Total cost was some hours, spray cans, and the gears which where $6 from AliExpress and the bearings for a a few dollars.
So I spent some saved money on adding some 90 degree angle clamps and a set of 6 vice grip type welding clamps on top of what you see lol, all up around $100.
Peter sent me a link after building it to H&F welding bench for $3250, wow.
The gear ratio is 2.66 to 1, makes easy winding and the wheels make easy moving it.
Empty it weighed 160kg, full it weighs just on 250kg.

Great work there Dave, especially when you consider what your budget was.

Thanks guys, this was just a quick throw together project of what I had laying around that I'd collected up.
The only wait was on the Makita angle sander gears (as advertised) that sized up right on AliExpress and the bearings, both where done after the table was finished and painted. Gears are so cheap on AliExpress as I found building the crane it's not worth making them.
I wasn't waiting on them to finish after the crane taking so long waiting for parts in covid, I've got a massive backlog of projects with all the parts here already I'm moving onto.
I'll post them up as I go.

Some more pictures, 6mm earth clamp spots and cover over the greased bevel gears.
Another recycled item is a old wall TV bracket level I had and mounted it close to the winding handle to adjust the feet to level the table easily, I even left there brand on there, lol.
I'm sorry for the screen shots but seems to be the only easy way to reduce picture size easily.
Also I'vee been told many years ago how to get rid of the annoying sent from X phone, I looked but can't find it, any members help would be appreciated to get rid of it as I know everyone hates it.

Done thank you, now I just need to find out how to do it with the forum on the internet.
Stupid Tapatalk only allow so many pictures per month as I found out last week unless I pay.
Looking forward to participating again but don't want to pay for pictures.
Who would have thought photo bucket would have started charging, or hold your photos for randsom by not displaying them on forums, lol

I upload to Google photos and post the links, as I can't post pictures either.
Almost as easy.
