Thanks for the report on this, Dave. A VERY professional looking piece of equipment.
If anyone walked in there, they'd think you bought it somewhere.

    Thanks,
I've already had a boilermaker of a friend who had a look and after I said I'd built the crane he stated "you obviously bought the hoist" He was supprised to hear I'd built it as well.
Hearing that comment made my day, as that's the way I wanted it to look, not homemade.

    Thanks
This project got out of hand honestly.
Just started as a simple crane using my old hoist and homemade trolley.
The beam was bigger than my last crane so needed a new trolley, then the headroom matter, the rest is history.

After building the actual crane and putting it up, it took 12 months work to build the trolley/hoist combo, rotation motor and gearboxes then all the electrical all the while waiting for parts from AliExpress etc with covid.
Every single moving part like limit switch arms etc are running on sealed beaings, I lost count of all the different bearings I ordered.

    Awesome work Dave.
The simple swing gantry I made was a reasonably amount of work so I can imagine the amount of time and effort that went into yours.

Thanks Bob, it will and was the main reason behind building it, as my 10inch rotary table hadn't been out of it's box since moving here.

Maybe it was all those years twiddling my thumbs doing no machining I went overboard, not sure. But as you know I always seem to go overboard with simple projects, lol

Ive done 2 projects since finishing it, one where I needed the crane, so now onto the vertical and horizontal electric drawbars for the mill I've designed and bought all the parts for, I can't stand the compressor running in the shop all the time for pneumatic ones.

    Hi Dave,
I fully understand your problem lifting your rotary table, I have a 10" Meca Rotary one and a Zeatz Universal Dividing Head fitted with a 4" chuck both weight in around 75-80 kg. I gave up lifting them a while ago and made an extension on my engine hoist jib. This saves me lifting but is not the easiest thing to manoeuvour in the workshop. I will be interested in seeing your design for an electric tool changer. I made an air butterfly one a few years ago and have made a few different additions to it. Not the best design for ER40 tooling. Compressor noise is always a problem.
    Regards Bob
