Those dimensions are close to 3/8" x 16 - what are the nuts from?

Ok ! It sounds like the spinney end to hold the plastic cable drum/dispenser thingy.
Any possibility of machining a suitable spindle that sported a 10 x 1.5 spindle in LH.?
It could be cheaper than having to have a tap made.

Easy peasy to find LH 10 x 1.5 nuts .

Kawasaki trimmer had that size nut.

If it's the thread coming out of the gearbox I would suggest looking at a universal gearbox such as these https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/28mm-26m...frcectupt=true or Multi-Fit Brushcutter Gearbox | JAK Max or GA Spares || UNIVERSAL GEARCASE ASSEMBLY MULTI-FIT INC ADAPTERS . The Jakmax and GA Spares are a lot dearer than the eBay one though, probably actually more than what your Trimmer is worth. I don't recall ever coming across a 9.5LH trimmer head.

You could make one though if you have a metric lathe.

All good .. if i remove the spigot with the PIA thread it leaves me with a M8 x 1 thread coming out of the gearbox. by using the aluminium line head off my Tanaka i have just enough thread to fit the nut.. an M8 x 1 LH nut will be a lot easier to source.
    thanks guys
