    Default DRO for SC4?

So I did the biting of the bullet and bought an SC4 lathe from Axminster in the UK, should be here in a few days. It's not what I want, but what I really really want Isn't easy to find. Like them zigazig ahs, never seen one.

And of course I want to put a DRO on the little thing. Now I know these little lathes aren't to be sniffed at, they can do some serious stuff, but they're cramped, not ideally suited to having attachments thrown at them and everything becomes a silly compromise.

I've asked a bunch of DRO people here in the UK but I'm just being pointed at the Chinese vernier solutions, I'd really rather not.

Again, any suggestions from you kind people?
    Many thanks.

The main problems with glass slide DRO's is that they are big, especially compared to the size of your lathe. I have a magnetic scale DRO from these guys

I find that it is really low profile and does not get in the way at all. It has been some time since I fitted it but I seem to recall buying the display from Ebay (Chinese) and buying their scales to plug into it.

What ever solution you go for is going to require the space to install it, either inside or around the machine. Machine DRO do a very thin magnetic tape and small read head ! Which is basically a Chinese vernier guts.

Depending upon what I want to do I use a dial gauge fastened to some moving part that will give me the indication that I want. It is always removable.

Nothing too special here. Hardest part was probably sorting brackets to go on the curves of the mill.

The mag strip is under the Aluminium on the front of the table. The readers are small too (can just be seen at the end of the bracket).

Mill is a bit grubby at the moment - sorry.
