P&N v`s Suttons and others
From when I first started buying taps, dies and drills it the mid 70`s it was always P&N. An excellent Australian product.
When Suttons took over P&N about 20 years ago P&N seemed to me to basically disappear. This is probable because the companies I was working with at the time changed to or were supplied Suttons.
I went with Suttons as I use to be able to buy them through one of the companies I contracted to at a vastly reduced price than I could buy over the counter. I have generally stayed with them since as I have found them to be a good product.
Anyway a month or so ago I was at the big green shed looking for some bolts and what should I see but some P&N products. Great was my first thought, then I compared them to the Frost products hanging next to them. Frost was more expensive!!! Frost is the bottom of the barrel as far as I am concerned so what standard are P&N now. Suttons were there as well but vastly more expensive than I can remember paying for them 3 or 4 years ago at my regular nuts and bolts place.
Well I ended up buying a 3 pack (M5,6 & 8) of P&N and have been using them instead of my Suttons mainly in Ally or brass with a couple of M8 holes in steel with good results.
As far as I was concerned Suttons where still Australian made with Frost being their cheap Chinese line. I don`t remember seeing anything on the package of the P&N.
I suppose after all that my question is has anyone been using P&N lately and what do you think.
Where are these brands made now?
Tony

Lets face it for 40 years this nation has been stupid enough to have everything made in Asaia so us poor saps can play in our sheds. Mind you I'd hate to be still in industries whos accountants see tge $$$$$ savings buying cheap.
I wounder where tge steel for Suttons & PN comes from?

From our plant here, we manufacture all our HSS taps and High performance taps, HSS Endmills and Carbide Endmills, HSS drills and Carbide Drills.
Please view the attached link that will show you some of the machines and products we manufacture here at Thomastown.
Yes, some products that we sell are imported, the main reason is with all the imported products on the market in some cases it is the only way to compete.
But, I can honestly say that Sutton Tools being a 4th Generations Family owned company are still manufacturing in Australia, proud to display the Australian made logo on our products and still going strong!
