In Oz, it's almost always cheaper to buy from the UK than the US as postage is soooo much cheaper.

I bought a set of those M1 - M2.5 direct from Aliexpress seemed like good value at around $AU25 I've only used them so far on brass but it is good to know they are ok for stainless. My experience with taps and dies - it is a mistake to buy cheap - get the best you can afford - if you can't afford a quality set then buy only the ones you need, as far as Oz brands go P&N is good, Sutton is bad. Sutton is the cheap arm of P&N they buy cheap asian rubbish and stick a Sutton label on to give it some credibility.

I have had standard sets of M7,9 and 11`s for over 35 years and used one 7 a handful of times. The others will rust away before they ever get used.

Tony, if you have one of these adjustable pin spanner's and break one of the pins, no replacement available, so will need the M9 by 1 die to remake, maybe I should have bought your's before it rusts away. Alan.

I’m pretty sure you have that the wrong way around.

I have just started a separate thread trying to find out what`s going on with the old P&N.

I find Tecla & Chiara on Aliexpress useful for odd size taps and dies.

Yes you are 100% correct it is Frost the once respected brand that is bad - must be a brain fog day for me I'd better stay away from rotating machinery for the rest of the day.

P&N is excellent quality but you will pay. I picked up a P&N UNF tap and die set at a flea market $10, only a small set, tap handle, die holder, 5 taps 5 dies 10-32 to 7/16-20 - exterior of the metal case was rusty - inside was pristine, looked to have never been used, looked up on the internet and the retail from P&N was just over the $200 mark.

I've see those sets and though about getting one but the only sizes I'm likely to find useful are the 2 and 2.5s. The sizes I would like are the "fine" 6,5,4, and 3mm,
