    Default Varnamo EV-5 shaper

    Good morning Guys,
I'm a new on this forum. I need some help with my shaper Varnamo EV-5. I bought this machine and when I start it the clutch break doesn't work - the arm is moving all the time, no matter in which position is the clutch lever. I took out the pulley and the clutch from the shaft. I took apart it, clean it and assembled it, but it doesn't work. Maybe some of you have a manual for this machine, because I can not find it on the internet. I'm not sure if the clutch is complete, maybe there is some missing parts. Please help me.
    Tomas

    Hi Tomas,

    Welcome to the forum.

It seems that everybody wants money for a copy of the manual for that machine !

Maybe some pictures of the clutch would help.
    Best Regards:
    Baron J.

It looks like Lathes UK might have a manual https://store.lathes.co.uk/varnamo

Thank you Techo1 for document what you got. I will try to translate it and see what it can be.
Next issue is that, when i move clutch lever towards the machine or backwards there is no "click" that something was clutched. I think normally it should be some sound of engaged or disengaged the clutch

I have a Swedish neighbour if you want some specific paragraph translated. I wouldn't ask her to do much (unless you want to pay her), I don't know her that well, but I'm sure she'd be happy to roughly do some critical paragraph. Assuming it's Swedish - Google Translate couldn't make sense of a single word.

Lots of links out there - some of those folks might be able to help. Just like this forum, if you contact people they can be extremely helpful. They're different EV models but the one manual seems to cover them all so they must be almost identical. Also, note there seems to be a lot of results with mis-spellings, eg "Varnarmo" and "Varnamo".

EDIT: translates ok at Google Translate as Swedish when you type it in, eg Page 10: "Nr 1 lamellkoppling ar utford enligt ovanstaende skiss, och det erforderliga trycket pa lamellen astadkommes genom att en ring av hardade stalkulor tvingas ned i ett kilformat spar under det forskjutbara kopplingshuvudet (1), varvid de bada brickorna (2) tryckes samman fran sidor mot lamellskivan (3)" becomes "No. 1 lamella coupling is challenged according to the above sketch, and the required pressure on the lamella is achieved by forcing a ring of hardened steel balls into a wedge-shaped groove under the displaceable coupling head (1), the two washers (2) being pressed together from the sides against the lamella plate (3)".
