Question Need Help Identifying Metal Artifact

    Hey all,

Doing some artifact work and don't know what this metal piece is. It is a hollow pipe, roughly 5 inches long, and indented/caved in at the end.

Does anyone know what this is, or what it resembles in modern metalworking?

If it helps, at one point this site was an active slave plantation in the 19th century (maybe for tobacco or cotton). Also, the owner was a doctor during that time.

    Thank you!

    Hi Coriolan,
First up, welcome to the forums.
A heads up for you, perhaps?

You may not get the answer you seek as this Forum is not American based.
It is an Aussie Forum with a few overseas members.

We evolved as an offshoot to an Australian woodwork forum. It means most members are Aussies. We have a few Americans and Canadians but we don't see them all that often.

We have had convict penal colonies in the parts of the country that were settled early.Possibily similar tools were used in those locations ,who knows.

Best of luck in your search.

    Grahame

Looks like a wheelbarrow handle to me.
(No historical expertise or knowledge; the squishing of one end looks just like my current lawnmower handle)
