Source for long BSF screws?
Any idea who might carry 1/4" x 26 BSF countersunk screws, 3" long? Tried a few of my usual sources without any luck. Thought I'd ask before I resort to making them. I hate making small diameter screws, especially long ones. Holding them is a PITA, lots of turning around and adjusting stickout. I need 10 of them, too.

These people in Parramatta have helped me out with odd/obsolete sizes: Lee Bros. Engineering Supplies
Their website does not give much detail, probably best to phone.
Best of luck,

Thanks Michael. I did try them. Nothing on their website that matches and no response to an email.

Nuts and Bolts in Tasmania are great too. Sadly they closed my local store but the remaining two branch stores have friendly and knowledgeable staff and a huge range of stock at good prices. Details below
No affiliation, just a happy customer.

I needed some longer than 2 inch and 2 inch was the longest I could find so I made them from 2.5 inch hex head bolts.
I locked a couple of nuts together on the thread to hold it in the chuck and turned the head down to a countersunk head, then cut the slot with a slitting saw.
I needed 48 of them so I made about 55 just in case. The whole exercise didn't take long once I got set up to mass produce them.Regards

Classic Fasteners https://www.classicfasteners.com.au/..._Catalogue.pdf have a 1/4 BSF x 3" hex bolt. A bit of machining and you will have a countersunk head.

Thank you, Snapey, I didn't see the hex head 3" bolts, I'll have a look.
Thank you Bradford for the machining tips. Good synergy with the previous posts. I'll have a think on that one.

Thanks again, everyone. Lee Bros in Parramatta and Nuts and Bolts in Tasmania couldn't help. I bought some hex bolts from Classic Fasteners and I'll have a crack at machining the heads. If that fails, I'll have to make them.
In case anyone is interested, these hold together an Eclipse mag chuck I've just about finished restoring. I had to drill a few out, they'd rusted under the countersinks due (I believe) to coolant ingress.

Phil, If you haven't got the machines to convert these hex bolts to countersunk then you're welcome to use mine if you're familiar with a centre lathe and turret mill.
Better still ... I'll machine them for you but you'll have to hook up a wiring loom on my 7 clubman. My God I'm hoping you're an auto electrician.

Thanks, Snapey, but I've a 12x36 lathe, an SX-4 mill and a grinder, so if I can't machine them I deserve to donate them all to a good cause. But I don't have a $*&^%*#$ 1/4" 5C collet and have just ordered one. Ach!
And you wouldn't want me to touch your clubman. I've been driving around in a Jeep with a bad connection on the EGR sensor for 10 years. If I did your wiring you'd try to start the engine and your toaster would turn on.
