Sometimes setups are so awkward
The T slots in my new 6" rotary table won't allow common T slot nuts to fit all the way in.

The T nuts will be used for holding down my new 63mm machine vise to the rotary table and I used it here to make the nuts.
It took a rather awkward setup to make a couple of T nuts suitable for the plate.
Center the rotary table, center the part and align the vise with the mill's X axis. Fun !

Thats a great idea, making and radiusing some T nuts for the RT.
Talking about akward, some of my most dodgiest setups have been on my RT!
I got an 8" and there always seems to be not enough room!

Looks good.
I am after a small vice like that - what did you buy and are you happy with it? Have you checked it out for precision at all?

I made them from a piece of 25mm square standing on its end in the vise. After milling I cut the T nut off and faced it.
The table on my mill isn't big enough. If I put the BS-0 dividing head as far on the left as possible, and its tailstock far to the right, there's only about 100mm between centres.

This is the one I bought. Quick delivery too , 5 days..
I haven't measured everything on it yet but it's really nicely made. I'd say it would be pretty close to accurate. It's heavy enough and all surfaces are ground.
The weakest link is the tightening screw. It's 8mm and I won't know how tight I can make it until the day I strip it or its nut.

Thanks very much.
I was looking at the same kind of size from Dawn. Trying to support an Aussie business and pay for good quality but the Dawn is close to $500 and I’m just not so sure I’ll notice much difference....
