I have two room that I have to remove the old render, cement, sand and probably lime.
The tender on the wall just crumbles to dust when I tried to remove some.

For that sort of thing I used a battery powered full face respirator with 2 x P2 cartridge filters.

Once the batteries had run down a bit mine lacked sufficient air flow for use on cold days so it would fog up

So I beefed up the battery life with an add on Li-ion battery pack

You might get a way with a half face respirator?

Dust masks don't work with beards.
You'd want a P1 spec mask. P2 would be good, but overkill IMO.
But any facial hair (even stubble >5mm) will render it useless. You need to have a seal so that your breath goes thru the filter media, not through the gap between beard and mask which is the path of least resistance.

    3M have a fitting guide. >>Available here<<

    From the 3M fitting guide:
"Beards, mustaches, or even stubble interfere with the seal of a tight-fitting respirator. That’s why AS/NZS 1715 requires that employees be clean-shaven the day of the fit test and prohibits any facial hair in areas where the respirator comes into contact with the face."

Just trim down to a mustache, and you'll be OK (in most places).

I bough mine about 15 years ago from Carbatech.
    I think mine cost $299
But I don't think they are being made any more - can't see them for sale online anywhere.

Carbatech now sell the Trend respirator
    https://www.carbatec.com.au/airshield-pro-respirator
Not cheap but I believe they are more effective than the Triton.

If you need noise protection at the same time you will need to wear ear plugs as the Trend doesn't accommodate muffs.

While you are totally correct regarding the Australian Standards etc, you may be surprised at how well a properly sized and fitted respirator will seal with a full beard. I can achieve a seal sufficient to suck the respirator in by blocking the inhalation port and I have a full beard. The inevitable sweat build up only improves that seal.
Paper dust masks are useless of course.

Yeah, there's that observation, and there is the law according to workcover and the all-seeing-eye. YMMV.

Personally, I've got a silicone half face I use only for the dustiest of tasks. But then again, catching swarf, dust, sparks, mig wire clippings etc in my beard is bordering on a spectator sport. I guess knowing that it is not effective with a big bushy beard helps to mitigate that risk some other way. A bit of gyprock dust per OP won't kill ya, but a full demo of an asbestos shed might help someone to re-evaluate their PPE selection if 'minimum viable' was going to be their choice.

Though I don't have one (yet!), a PAPR (powered air purifying respirator) mask is the way to go. A lot pricier than regular masks & respirators, but having constant airflow around your face, now that's the dream.

I have a trend air shield pro, it good when you are standing upright, but no good for my buggered neck if I am bending over. The weight of the battery on top of my head is too much weight, that is why I am looking for one that has battery on your belt.

I think that you are probably spot on, but the sticker shock may be just about as deadly as the dust. I have an idea that the 3M version, (think Speedglas welding helmet with PAPR, but with a visor instead of the welding helmet) is around $1300, or is it $700? Both figures are ringing bells
