    Default Lubricant for Vices

What do you use for lubricant on a vice?
After spending hours scraping off hardened dried grease, dirt and crud, I don’t want it to end up like this again.
It swivel at the base and the jaws swivel in the body.

Dry graphite is what some manufacturers recommend.

If you have any, perhaps white lithium grease might do?

I don't see it it around anymore ,maybe its all going into battery manufacture?

Regular cleaning and re lubing seems a good idea.

I use moly wheel bearing grease - its supposed to be good for slow-motion high-pressure applications. My 1967 purchased join vice got lubed that way in the 1980s and is still good and smooth.
I also use small amounts of it in Guy Lautard's home baked way oil recipe.

I have some white Li grease as a spray, bought a new can last year.
The spray is semi penetrating - I use it for lubing WW machinery.
I generally blow the dust off the thing I'm (re)greasing, spary it on and let it dry. It dries as a thin solid layer that does't seem to collect as much dust as regular grease. By solid I don't mean hard like regular grease.
