Dealt with both Ausee a bit - ssemed ok at the time, but has been a little while.
Most of my dealings with stuff I cant get locally have been with LPR in Broadford - if you speak to older guy (where possible) as he seems to be the brains trust for those tricky questions.
As already mentioned the order by fone and pay by card seems to work fine for me. Easier/quicker to ask questions.
Been using a mixed bag with HSS. Dont mind the Sutton stuff, but like most things the bigger the HSS the dearer she gets. Bought a few bits of 16mm as its the biggest I can run in my holders. Mainly for those jobs where I need some extra stickout.Frisky wife, happy life. Then I woke up. Oh well it was fun while it lasted. From an early age my father taught me to wear welding gloves . "Its not to protect your hands son, its to put out the fire when u set yourself alight".

I've never had an issue with Steve at Ausee in Dandenong. He has always been good to deal with. Most of my machine tools and accessories were obtained there.
LPR in Broadford have also been very good to deal with for cutting tools and supplies.

Hi Pete, Guys,
I've not been around for a couple of days, so a bit late to the party
First, Welcome to the forums, lots of good guys here with many years of experience !
Now my take on carbide insert tooling from a died in the wool HSS user ! Most of my HSS has come from scrapyard finds, engineering shop throw outs and old bits of HSS tooling. Never throw away a broken bit of HSS, it will almost become useful at some point.
Now a confession ! I've always had difficulty grinding lathe tooling for cutting threads ! I, found it very difficult to get the angles right. Then I discovered carbide threading inserts ! Many told me that they needed high speeds and large cuts to work properly. Anyway I purchased a 10 mm threading bar that took small carbide inserts, I forget the number without searching, but I'm now a happy bunny. I can cut 55 and 60 degree threads with ease.
So for threading for me carbide is kingBest Regards:
Baron J.
