Default Needing a few steel brackets

    Hi everyone,

I'm needing a few steel brackets and I can't seem to find them anywhere, so trying my luck here for ideas (or makers!)

It's a C-shape, and has to be approx. 1.5 - 2mm thick. The 150mm width is the critical dimension, the rest doesn't have to be exacting. I'm after 6 of these to wrap around various beams. It's part of a steel shed construction if that helps.

Could easily be made from a flat sheet of steel and bent into shape. Doesn't have to be super pretty.

Any thoughts on where I might be able to get something like this, or whether any kind soul here would consider making them for me (for a fee of course).

    Thanks.

    150mm is the internal dimension?

I ask as I have a long length of 150x50x3 Duragal rectangular section, so this only has an internal width of 144 mm and therefore would probably not be any use in this case.

    Hi AfroBoy,

Hopefully there is someone nearby with a decent folder or a break press .

A Note to our newer members. Yes! you who has their location down as as Sydney,Melbourne, Perth Adelaide or any other big town or or city that takes a while to get from one side to the other.
Noting your city is not as good as a close by suburban location is a real good idea in cases like this. If you have not done it already, do it now. It won't help us but might help you.

Most of us would be more than happy to help if we live close and have the equipment but the thought of possibly having to traverse across a big city might turn a lot of potential assistees right off. That sort of thing is more possible in a smaller community.Folks are less likely to help you if the believe you live on the other side of West Woop Woop.

As an Example using your location ,say Footscray in place of just Melbourne might encourage the guy in the next suburb to contact you.

As the real estate guys say.

    Location, location, location.

Cheapest option would be to go to a local sheet metal worker and have them made.
I can do them for you in 1.6mm if you get stuck and are prepared to pay freight from Adelaide.

    Is this what you're after?

The 154mm version would have an internal width of 150.2mm.

Same as listing your location as Australia, I don't even bother reading your post.

If you haven't gotten someone by the end of the weekend, I'll make them up for you, have plenty of Galv. sheet offcuts here. So send me a PM with your address.

Really? What if the poster’s location is irrelevant to their request? Like if they want to know how to grind a form tool. Why would you care where they live in that case?

I think anyone that lives in or near melbourne knows where the dandenong ranges are, https://www.google.com.au/maps/place...!4d145.3501044

It may be the case that someone is near by and can physcially meet them & help them learn. It's certainly personal preference, but having a more precise location does help when trying to offer assistance.

Sure, but that’s a world away from ignoring someone’s post because they list their location as Australia.

Thanks for the tips and support everyone. I've managed (hopefully) to find someone locally who should be able to whip this up for me, but will come back to some of the offers here if not.

As an aside, as for location, Dandenong Ranges is specific enough! It's a relatively small community area and if I were to put my suburb here it would be like a handful of people. So I think I made the right balance between being too general and useless, and too specific and causing potential privacy issues.

    Hi Afro Boy,

I am in Mount Waverley so probably be 20-30 mins from you. I have a small folder and you are more than welcome to come around to use it when the restriction is over?
